Kumarasinghe Aratchige Dona Chrihashni Nehara Canishia Pieris, Born on the 21st of December to Curtis and Neshanthi Pieris, grew up in the city of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Her father is a businessman in Colombo while her mother is a house wife. Nehara also has a younger brother, Nehan, who is an advanced level student at St. Peter’s College Colombo.
Nehara received her early education at St. Lawrence’s school in Colombo 06 and was involved in a host of extracurricular activities that included the school choir, western band and basket ball while she also made regular appearances in most of the school’s stage and drama activities. She was even a prefect of her school. After college, Nehara obtained a diploma in marketing and management from the Australian college of business and technology (ACBT)
Nehara showed tremendous talent and potential during her early years, promoting her parents to get her involved in various activities related to dancing, speech and drama. In fact, Nehara’s childhood role model was J.LO! Nehara studied ballet under the renowned Hanillow Jayasundera and hip hop at Deana school of dancing under the guidance of Natasha Jayasundara. Nehara is also a quite capable piano and guitar player.
Nehara began her celebrity life by appearing in a number of commercials endorsing a wide variety of products. Her simultaneous appearance in the Sirasa Dancing Star TV dance competition as well as the award winning teledrama ‘Muthu Kirilli” ensured that Nehara’s popularity sky-rocketed. She currently hosts the popular ‘Derana Tea Party’ program engaging in casual conversations with some of the Sri Lanka’s most popular personalities.
In 2008, Nehara released her much anticipate hit music single, ‘Malpethi’ while ‘Aadara Heena’, A duet with local film star Roshan Ranawana, and several other musical hits will be released very soon. Nehara’s appearance in the Sri Lankan English movie ‘It’s A Matter of Love’ in 2009 is her maiden cinematic venture.
